Mornings With Daddy

I’m hijacking the blog tonight.

Poor Sara has been hit hard with this cold/flu/whatever awful thing it is. Thank God for family who has been helping take Lucy or being here during the day when I’ve had to go to work. What a blessing to be close to lots of free grandparent-sitting. :-) Thanks so much you guys!!!

I’ve been blessed to spend a few precious morning hours with Lucy and Luke and have tried to drag myself out of bed so Sara can sleep these past few days.

Dads…we’re weak people. Admit it! Women are the strong ones! I don’t know how she does it chasing after them all day. Just an hour or two in the wee-hours of the morning (and by wee, I mean, like, 6am) are enough to tire me. Work sounds relaxing. And by comparison, it is!

So, we’ve spent the mornings playing in our atrium (aka playroom). You won’t see any photos of me with my bed-head here, but man, are our kids cute, or what?

Lucy loves what she calls her “McDonald’s Kitchen.” I mean LOVES the thing. Just these past few days she’s taken to praying at dinner. Talk about melt your heart. And she thanks God for her McDonald’s kitchen every night. Order up!

And here is Lucy with “Candy Sue.” No, Lucy didn’t name her, though she would pick a name like that. :-) My Aunt Diane had this doll when she was a kid and recently redicovered it at my Grandma’s house and then gave it to Lucy. Candy Sue is Lucy’s “big girl” doll. She literally is bigger than all the other babies, and apparently she is the mommy of Baby Adam and Jessie. Who knew dolls had kids? They’re having a serious moment here. I think Candy Sue is being disciplined.

And Luke. Well, he’s just a happy little bundle of love. I love my little Lukester! He’s become quite the climber these past few days and has been pulling himself up on everything and anything he can. We’ve rediscovered baby-proofing.

Look out ladies. My son has eyes that kill. He didn’t get them from me….mine are brown!

Yes indeed. I’m a proud Daddy. But please pray for Sara that she gets well! I need my Wonder Woman back.

November 29, 2007 - 11:56 am Merrilee - I sure hope Sara's feeling better! Brad and I just got over some bad colds too. On another note, I think your blog might need some sound bytes of Lucy's prayers ;)

November 29, 2007 - 10:28 am Chris - You're too sweet, Rebecca! :-)

November 28, 2007 - 9:14 am Rebecca - Chris, what a tribute to your wife. Give her my get-well wishes... maybe wonder woman can muster some super powers to speed the healing process? Failing that, I'm a big fan of DayQuil... :)
