About 2 months ago, there was a knock at the door. I was particularly excited about this wedding consultation with Erika. 20 years ago, I babysat for Erika and her brother (and then only sibling) Jacob every Saturday while her mom worked as a nurse at the hospital and her dad was out with real estate clients. It was one of the best experiences of my life, and I still think about how much I learned, grew up, and smiled because of that job. It was FUN to watch Erika and Jacob. And as crazy as it might sound, I feel a really strong connection to Erika because of all of those Saturdays we spent together.
Fast forward 20 years to that knock on the door. I actually had to do a double take when I swung it open. I wouldn’t have recognized this gorgeous woman as Erika, in a million years but it took only a fraction of an hour for me to recognize what a wonderful woman she has become. We stood in the kitchen and talked about college, church, her wedding…as adults together. And it felt like, in some strange way, like I had found a long lost friend. I’m so glad she called about pictures.
A few weeks later I had the pleasure of meeting Philip – who is extraordinary himself. Together they make a perfect couple. Here are some of the images from their engagement session:

Erika I am SO glad we could reconnect after all these years. And I’m so glad to no longer be your babysitter but your WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!!! I can’t wait for that Saturday in May when I get to show up not as a babysitter, but as a photographer! Thanks for calling. Enjoy your Slideshow.
