We are so excited to share this beautiful Walnut Creek wedding with you! We knew from the time we first met this couple that their wedding was going to be beautiful! Kendra and Nathaniel were married in October at Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church in Walnut Creek, CA. We’ve attended many weddings there, but it was the first time we were there as photographers and we had a blast! The girls got ready in Pleasant Hill ahead of time (and the guys met up with Chris for some pictures before, too). We hope you enjoy these photographs from their wedding! The guys got ready in Downtown Pleasant Hill – check out this handsome groom!

Walnut Creek Presbyterian Church has a balcony, so Chris and I were able to split up and catch some great shots from above and down on the aisle!

The reception was held at the Pleasant Hill Community Center in Pleasant Hill, CA. What I love about Pleasant Hill Community Center is that it has beautiful grounds and is a perfect spot for beautiful outdoor pictures!

They hired an amazing caricaturist to do caricatures of their guests during the reception! BRIDES and GROOMS – great idea!! This was a HUGE hit and it was so fun to see all the drawings.

A candy table is never a bad idea.

W Hotel & Swedenborgian Church Wedding Photography

When I think of weddings, I think happiness. I love that at weddings there are nerves, there are tears, there is excitement – but all of those things always boil down to happiness. Laughter. Joy. I love that about weddings – that even the nerves are connected to being happy and the tears stream from joy. That is why I’m a wedding photographer.

This San Francisco wedding was no different. I had the honor of second shooting this wedding for a photographer friend of mine. The more I photograph weddings the more I realize that I am determined to capture the happiness and joy that brews all day long. I love these images – I hope they make you happy too!!!

The bride and bridesmaids got ready at the W Hotel in San Francisco. I LOVE the amazing colors and shapes – the clean and modern feel of the rooms made for some really fun pictures….

After a few getting ready shoots we headed over to The Swedenborgian Church of San Francisco. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this church! It’s small and quaint, and historical!!! They had some great garden areas and lots of nooks and crannies perfect for pictures. I would love to shoot another wedding here at this church!

The inside of the church is warm and cozy. And beautiful. I love the rustic feel.

My Kids | Concord Clayton Family Photographer

As a photographer – do know what I think about pictures? They should make you happy. Life doesn’t always make you happy, the people you love don’t always make you happy, your circumstances don’t always make you happy…but the pictures on your walls should make you happy. In fact, taking pictures, walking by pictures, seeing them come up on your screen saver, sending them to loved ones in the mail…everything about pictures should make you happy. That’s why I became a photographer!

Here are some photographs of my kids I took a few weeks ago on a trail in Clayton. I’ve actually done lots of portrait sessions here – I think it’s beautiful! I really love the Concord, Clayton – East Bay area. I love taking pictures of kids (of all ages) in the middle of this amazing place! Sometimes I can’t believe I live in an area where such natural beauty is so close. Yeah, yeah, San Diego has the beach. But they can keep it . I love this trail in Clayton. I love Lime Ridge Open Space, I love the Eichlers (I’ll be posting some of the kids in front of those soon!!!) in my community…I just love taking pictures here!!! It makes me happy

Concord Clayton Family Photography | My niece!

Yes, yes, yes. I went a little overboard. I know I’m a family photographer, but when I’m photographing my OWN family, I have the tendency to go over the top. But don’t even try to pretend that if Abey was your niece you wouldn’t have posted this many pictures too!

Abey is now officially 18 months old – and it was time for another session. This time, with mom and dad. We headed down to Newhall Community Park in Concord, CA. If you haven’t been to Newhall Park and you live in Concord or Clayton, CA you should go! They have great walking trails, a dog park, and lots of green grass – which make for great family pictures.

I think there are some special pictures here. And if you don’t mind, I’d like to take a minute and comment on why. First, it doesn’t hurt to be uber cute (and beautiful and handsome). The three of them are just beautiful people. But – what I really love about these pictures is the lighting. Even beautiful people need to be beautifully lit for a beautiful image! And Dave and Lesley were willing to work with me on the timing of the session to make sure that happened.

I always try to be as accomadating to my clients sechedules as possible – but take a look for yourself. The time of day really does matter! These pictures would look very different if they were taken even one hour earlier. When your only light source is the sun, you need to wait until it is lower in the sky to get both the dramatic and even lighting you’ll see in these pictures. If you are thinking about scheduling a session – keep in mind that the time matters .

Thanks guys for working with me on the time! I think it was well worth it.

The Old Homestead Wedding Photography | Becca & Cris

A few weeks ago we headed over to The Old Homestead (in Crockett, CA) to shoot Beca and Cris’ Wedding. We’d never been to The Old Homestead before so we didn’t really know what to expect, except that we heard from the bride and others that it was a really cool and intimate place to get married. WE AGREE! They had a beautiful and intimate ceremony and we were so glad to have been there to photograph the best day of their life so far. The Old Homstead is a beautiful venue and it has just recently been remodeled and freshly painted. It’s like having a wedding in your beautiful backyard. Congrats Beca & Cris! Your wedding was beautiful and we hope you cherish your pictures. Enjoy your slideshow!

The Old Homestead has a beautiful porch/sun room off the front – it made a great spot for formal and candid pictures.
