We only had time to do some of the twins – so grown up now!!!  They are as fun as they look!!!

And nothing makes me happier than sharing this session with my dear friends Brad & Merrilee.  You might remember these images of baby Paxton -

Well, he’s not a baby anymore!!!

Paxton turned 1!  And it’s easy to see that his mom and dad are more in love with him than ever!

This session was a dream session to me.  We played, we did some crazy lighting things, we laughed, and we took full advantage of their totally awesome house, and we focused on capturing the beauty of the everyday.

I think one reason we all get along so well is that we worship all hold a deep affinity for Apple.  Check out Paxton working the iPhone:

Ever since we met Brad and Merrilee it was clear Fergie was a part of their family.

Shortly after we took these images, Fergie passed into a more peaceful and wonderful place.  I’m so glad we have these of Paxton and Fergie!

We took a stroll down to the park where we finished our session and created these images:

Have I said before how much I love photographing families?  Well, I’ll say it again.  I LOVE photographing families.  Especially families like the Bolstads.  With two very active little boys, this sessions was a riot!  And SO much fun.  And full of love.  And FULL of energy!!!!  All of that fun, energy & love clearly transferred into their images.  Couple that with the beauty of the Concord/Clayton area, and you get some really fun images!  Check them out!

It’s love.  Really, that’s it!  That’s the secret.  You actually have to love your family – and not be afraid to show it – and you will get beautiful family portraits.

I think I have the best job in the world.  I love taking pictures, but I love being around families who love each other.  And my clients really, authentically, love each other.  And that inspires me.

Okay, so it isn’t just love…beautiful light helps as well

For example, Piedmont Park.  This park is amazingly beautiful with lush grass, Redwood trees, beautiful fountains, and a darling playground.  I don’t think I could dream up a better location to take family pictures than Piedmont Park.

So take a location as amazing as Piedmont Park and add in a beautiful family and check out the kinds of images you can get!

I know I sound like a broken record, but Balboa Park was just SO MUCH FUN!  Here’s the last family I had the pleasure of photographing…I love their energy, imagination, and the obvious love they have for each other.  This session just might be a favorite…

Check out this beautiful family!  I photographed them at Balboa Park in San Diego last weekend.  And I have to say, WE HAD FUN!  It was the fastest photo session I’ve ever done – whirlwind is a good way to describe our time together!  But their photo’s sure turned out cute…and doesn’t look like we had fun??  I love that about pictures…you can feel them – you can feel the love, the energy and the FUN of being together.  Enjoy the images!!

I had so much fun photographing families in San Diego last weekend!  We all met at Balboa Park and had a blast taking pictures!

While Balboa Park is amazingly beautiful, I think you’ll agree it really isn’t the background or the location that makes these images stunning.  It’s the people!  And how much they love each other and the newest member of their family .

Before I show you any more pictures you have to know that Rory was interested in me for about 5 minutes.  After that, she could not have cared less about me.  Or my keys.  Or my silly faces.  She was over me.  period.

But that’s alright because I love the images that we created together.  I love that they truly reflect Rory.  And even if we didn’t capture bug huge wide grins (which I suspect she gives sparely) we did capture her energy and her go go go spirit.  Not to mention the way her parents are absolutely smitten over her.  Like in this one.  Rory just makes her mama glow.

Or in this one.  She loves her daddy – I think it’s mutual…

I know this one is a little “soft” so to speak…but I LOVE it.

Meet Walter’s family, Michelle and TJ:  Aren’t they beautiful!!??

People ask me what I love about my job and it’s simple.  I love capturing what my clients love about each other and what they love about life.

There are so many variables in creating a strong image – as a photographer I think about my equipment, my camera settings, and of course the light, but I love thinking about what inspires people, and what makes them light up inside.

I love “modern portraitre”…something other than say cheese and smile at the camera!  But a creating a strong emotional image is much more than unconventional posing or playing. It’s about connecting with people and finding out what makes them tick.  It was so fun to photograph TJ and Michelle with their sweet Walter…who they love SO much.  With Michelle and TJ, it’s obvious they love each other and Walter so much.  You can’t help be see all that love in their images!
